ALSTOM will participate in the construction of Milan’s metro line 5, the city’s first automatic driverless metro line. ALSTOM will supply infrastructure, notably the electric supply system, electrical substations, traction systems and the platform screen doors to ensure passengers’ safety.

ALSTOM Ferroviaria* is part of a consortium composed of Astaldi, Ansaldo Trasporti Sistemi Ferroviari, Ansaldobreda, Torno Internazionale and ATM (Azienda Trasporti Milanesi), which has been awarded a 500 million euros order for the supply of the automatic metro system for Milan’s line 5.

Line 5 will be directly connected to the city’s public transport network. The line will transport 26.000 passengers per day and cover more than 5,6 km. It will comprise 9 stations connecting Garibaldi with Bignami leading towards the city’s northern boundaries. It may be extended in the future to the city of Monza.
