EMTA has appointed Johannes Laitila as Communications Officer from 1 February 2024. Johannes is seconded to EMTA from HSL, the public transport authority of Helsinki Region in Finland.
Johannes is a Finnish national with a Master of Social Sciences in Communication from the University of Helsinki. He has worked as a communications professional at HSL in various roles for nine years. Before that he worked in journalism, mainly in Helsingin Sanomat, the biggest daily in Finland. He has also worked as a freelancer in London for 16 months, writing for various newspapers and magazines.
At EMTA, Johannes will be responsible for managing and enhancing the communications efforts of the association.
“Public transport has fascinated me since childhood, and it is a great pleasure and privilege to get to be a part of the European transport community. At EMTA, I will do my best to make the voice of public transport authorities heard”, says Johannes Laitila.
