Towards a new organisation for Austrian national railway company

ÖBB is about to be converted in a holding, that
will head up four independent operating
Anonymous Companies in charge of the
following activities: passengers transport,
freight transport, traffic management,
network building and upgrading.

One
objective pursued by this major reform is to
bring public subsidies at a level of €4.1bn
by 2010: they amount to €4.4 bn currently
and are expected to reach €5.1 bn in 2010
without reform.

The reform will allow high
levels of investments in the infrastructure with
more than €1bn per year.
