The construction of a regional Maas system by Île-de-France Mobilités

 The construction of a regional Maas system by Île-de-France Mobilités

To date, a global vision of mobility is essential to make life easier for travellers and to offer the best choice for getting around. Mobility as a Service (short “MaaS”) aims to make all daily mobility services accessible by linking digital technology with multiple transport methods.

At the end of 2019, the French Mobility Orientation Law empowered Île-de-France Mobilités with a new organizational capacity for developing new forms of mobility.

As such and as the regional public transport authority, Île-de-France Mobilités is exercising this new prerogative and has the following ambition:

  • to become a player in Mobility as a Service by offering MaaS digital medium to travellers;
  • to assume the role of contracting authority for a MaaS platform including both a Regional Mobility Information Platform (PRIM) and a Ticketing Information and Services System (SIS) - intended for person who habitually use data and services.
  • to organise MaaS in Île-de-France more broadly, to promote good practices and to define the main principles of interaction between the entities, in accordance with the guidelines of public mobility policies.

Île-de-France Mobilités aims to build a reference point for MaaS on the Île-de-France territory. The development of the associated infrastructure tools (data platforms and digital media) involving a large number of private and public partners has already begun.

Île-de-France Mobilités has published a MaaS reference guide to define and promote good practices and clarify the main principles of interactions between mobility stakeholders in Île-de-France, in order to guarantee the best possible service to users and support sustainable business models that implement MaaS to benefit the general interest.
