Description of the Metropolitan area
The Greater Dublin Area comprises the local authority areas of Dublin Corporation and the counties of Fingal, South Dublin and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown (the Dublin Region), and the counties of Kildare, Meath and Wicklow (the Mid-East Region).
Dublin City (Dublin County Borough) is situated on the east coast of Ireland, where the river Liffey enters Dublin Bay and the Irish Sea.
